Complement and Contact System Parameters in Healthy Subjects and HANE Patients in Basal Condition Healthy subjects Type - I HANE

چکیده
Ci inhibitor (Ci-Inh) catabolism in plasma of patients with hereditary angioneurotic edema (HANE) was assessed by measuring the complexes formed by Cl-Inh with its target proteases (Cis, Factor XIIa, and kallikrein) and a modified (cleaved) inactive form of Ci-Inh (iCI-Inh). This study was performed in plasma from 18 healthy subjects and 30 patients with HANE in remission: 20 with low antigen concentration (type I) and 10 (from 5 different kindreds) with dysfunctional protein (type II). Both type-I and type-II patients had increased Ci-Ci-Inh complexes (P < 0.0001), which in type I inversely correlated with the levels of Cl-Inh (P < 0.001). iCI-Inh was normal in all type-I patients and in type-I1 patients from three families with increased Ci-Inh antigen, whereas iCi-Inh was higher than 20 times the normal values in patients from the remaining two families with Ci-Inh antigen in the normal range. None of the subjects had an increase of either Factor XIIa-Ci-Inh or kallikrein-Ci-Inh complexes. This study shows that the hypercatabolism of Ci-Inh in HANE patients at least in part occurs via the formation of complexes with Ci and that genetically determined differences in catabolism of dysfunctional Ci-Inh proteins are present in type-II patients. (J. Clin. Invest. 1990. 85:1215-1220.) complement* contact system * Ci inhibitor catabolism * Ci inhibitor deficiency * dysfunctional Ci inhibitor

Plasma levels of C1- inhibitor complexes and cleaved C1- inhibitor in patients with hereditary angioneurotic edema.
C1- inhibitor (C1(-)-Inh) catabolism in plasma of patients with hereditary angioneurotic edema (HANE) was assessed by measuring the complexes formed by C1(-)-Inh with its target proteases (C1-s, Factor XIIa, and kallikrein) and a modified (cleaved) inactive form of C1(-)-Inh (iC1(-)-Inh). This study was performed in plasma from 18 healthy subjects and 30 patients with HANE in remission: 20 with...
متن کاملComparison of periodontal parameters and metabolic glucose levels in patients with diabetes and healthy subjects
Background: For decades, it was suspected that diabetes contributed to poorer oral health and the increased frequency of periodontitis. More recently it was found that periodontitis could adversely affect glycemic control in diabetics. The aim of this study was to compare periodontal parameters with the metabolic sugar levels of diabetic and non-diabetic individuals. Materials and Methods: I...
متن کاملIslet Amyloid Polypeptide is not a Target Antigen for CD8+ T-Cells in Type 2 Diabetes
Background: Type 2 diabetes (T2D) is a chronic metabolic disorder in which beta-cells are destroyed. The islet amyloid polypeptide (IAPP) produced by beta-cells has been reported to influence beta-cell destruction. Objective: To evaluate if IAPP can act as an autoantigen and therefore, to see if CD8 + T-cells specific for this protein might be present in T2D patients. Methods: Peripheral blood ...
متن کاملA Flowcytometry Study of CD55 and CD59 Expression on Erythrocytes in Rheumatoid Arthritis Patients
Background: Inappropriate activation or blockage of the inhibition of complement system could cause tissue damages in autoimmune diseases particularly rheumatoid arthritis (RA). Defect in complement component regulation may cause damages to tissues, on the other hand, or the damaged tissue might affect the unnecessary activation of complement components. Objective: To investigate the expressi...
متن کاملThe Effects of Counting the Stride Numbers on the Parkinsonian Gait: Suggesting a Possible Reason for Dual Task Interference
Introduction: Parkinson Disease (PD) is a degenerative and progressive disorder of the central nervous system. It results from degeneration of Substantia Nigra pars compacta (SNc) of the Basal Ganglia (BG). Gait disturbances in PD patients generally get worse over time. The underlying mechanism of gait disturbances in PD has not been elucidated yet. Methods: In this study, we tried to analyze ...
